Everyone participating in Run To Work Day 2013 can now directly support those families most affected by the tragic events of 15th April at the Boston Marathon.
Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Menino this week announced the formation of The One Fund Boston.
“The One Fund Boston will act as a central fund to receive much needed financial support,” Governor Patrick said. “At moments like this, we are one state, one city, and one people.”
Mayor Menino added “We are one Boston. We are one community. As always, we will come together to help those most in need. And in the end, we will all be better for it,”
Running with Music – To do or not to do
Running with Headphones
Running with music. A lot of runners wouldn’t dream of leaving the house without their trusted companion – the headphones. But does running with music help or is it a hindrance. Should running with music be banned in all races? Many would argue you get the ‘runners high’ in a bigger dose if you ‘run naked’; ie run with just the sound of mother-nature in your ears. Lets look at the arguments:
CrossFit and Running - does it work?
CrossFit is everywhere. The sport of fitness has well and truly arrived and is here to stay. CrossFit's exercise program is practiced by members of approximately 4,400 affiliated gyms, most of which are in the United States. In the UK we now have over 150 affiliates where a full list can be find here. Last year over 70’000 people signed up to compete in the CrossFit Open, a worldwide competition which aims to find the fittest male and female on Earth.
RunBreeze says 'Love Your Feet'
Love Your Feet!
Feet. And not just any feet; Runners Feet. These type of feet are special. These type of feet are different from the non-runners feet. These type of feet are used and often abused. But why? It seems a common acceptance amongst runners that toenails falling off, athletes foot and blisters are just ‘part’ of being a runner. Some of my favourite quotes I have heard in Clubhouses around the country are:
“Second toenail fell off this week – 8 to go!’
and…
“Keep getting a blister on the inside of my foot, its part of me now – I have had it for fifteen years”
and…
“You’ve only got 2 blisters, ha – I’ve got 4 at the moment!”
I could go on… However I want to discuss why I think the runner hasn’t learnt to ‘Love Their Feet’ and how at RunBreeze we want to change that.
How to get into athletics:
How to get into athletics! - GB International James Bowness
There has been so much interest in athletics since the Olympic and Paralympic games and its great to see so many people inspired to get involved in athlteics.
Get yourself down to your local running club!
Joe Macdonald - 'My favourite thing about the running community is that they are a happy, sociable bunch who have a great willingness to go out of their way for you.'
As the summer track season draws to a close and the post Olympics euphoria starts to wear off, I thought I'd give an update on how my season has gone. In a word, frustrating. There were plenty of positives, but after running a PB for 10k on the roads in March, the form I felt sure I would carry onto the track never quite seemed to materialise.
Running is an incredibly easy sport to get involved with, whether it be as a recreational jogger or a competitive athlete, it is never too late.

Carbohydrates are a great source of energy and are the preferred energy source for endurance sports.... especially running.
